Admiral Biscuit (cat). A large orange cat who chairs the Cat-Owners' Caucus. He has never attended a meeting awake.
Pepper (beagle). A cheerful beagle who is not a cat, knows it, and has made peace with it.
Brenda (raccoon). The lane's beloved domesticated bear. Lives under the porch at No. 2. The neighbors are sincerely, unanimously and incorrectly convinced that raccoons are domesticated bears, and treat her with the dignity owed to a household pet of considerable standing.
ORACLE (AI assistant). The HOA's AI assistant, installed by Mags after a demo. Speaks with total serenity and is wrong about almost everything, especially history, geography and the neighbors' names.
